At COP28, the goal of tripling the world's installed capacity for renewable energy by 2030 was adopted. REvision this year featured leading international experts who provided an update on the growth of renewables world-wide, as well as developments in the US and Australia. The US has seen accelerated development of solar and wind power since the enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), while Australia is on its way to becoming a renewable energy superpower in the Asia-Pacific region. Speakers presented latest global trends and the potentials for further expansion of renewables were discussed.
Japan will revise its Strategic Energy Plan this year. How can we drive the path to tripling renewables and energy transition in the Japanese context? The potential scenarios outlined by the Institute and BloombergNEF were presented. Other topics included how to ensure successful integration of renewables development in harmony with local communities, and the future of offshore wind.
