(Updated 8 January 2025)
At the end of last year (2024), the Japanese government drafted a new Strategic Energy Plan and Japan's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets (NDC), which are currently subject to public comments.
Renewable Energy Institute has published energy transition scenarios for the years 2035 and 2040, setting out a path to achieve emissions reductions consistent with the IPCC's 1.5°C scenario, while strengthening Japan's economic competitiveness and ensuring a stable energy supply.
