In September, the European Commission released a report titled The Future of European Competitiveness by former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. The report focuses on climate change and energy, presenting a plan to balance decarbonization with enhanced competitiveness. It outlines strategies to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and efforts on closing the innovation gap through the deployment of renewables and the strengthening of the grid.

In the face of rapidly changing global markets, Diana Acconcia, Director for International Affairs and Climate Finance in the Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission, spoke about the EU's clear pathway to achieving decarbonization while maintaining economic competitiveness.
