Webinar Series (Germany session) Strengthening Security on Climate, Economics and SocietyGreen Energy Transition Today

28 November 2024

in Japanese

Over the past 20 years, Germany has led Europe’s green energy transition through the integration of economic and energy policies. However, the energy crisis sparked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine caused a sharp rise in energy prices, presenting a major challenge to Germany’s energy policy. Despite these difficulties, Germany remains committed to further advancing its energy transition, phasing out coal, achieving a nuclear-free energy mix, and installing over 14 GW of solar power last year alone. Dr. Falk Bömeke of Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Germany, and Dr. Matthias Deutsch of Agora Energiewende spoke about Germany's current energy policies and its future direction.
