Reform of the electricity system is essential to accelerate growth in renewables and achieve a decarbonized electricity mix. Renewable Energy Institute has repeatedly pointed out the need for an electricity system reform, suggesting the need for grid enhancements, building a scheme that enables an open, fair and transparent electricity market environment, implementing market transactions based on merit orders, and improving efficiency of supply and demand balancing through a broad area procurement and operation adjustments.
Based on the achievements and accomplishments to date, the Institute is committed to further drive the necessary structural reforms, including ownership unbundling, to increase the speed and scale of energy transition needed to realize a decarbonized society.
