in Japanese

Renewable Energy Institute publishes “Renewable Electricity Procurement Guidebook” for business energy users in Japan since January 2018 and revises it with the latest information every year.  The full edition is available in Japanese (released on 10 January 2019) and the digest edition in English.

In recent years corporate renewable energy sourcing has been accelerating among leading corporations globally.  The benefits of renewables are recognized not only from an environmental perspective but also economical compared with fossil fuel and nuclear power generation.

In Japan, the costs of renewable electricity are still higher than global average but declining year by year particularly for solar.  Procurement methods for corporations and local governments are becoming widely available by on-site generation, green product, renewable energy certificate and long-term investment for development projects.

The guidebook explains selection criteria of renewable electricity and specific procurement methods with actual examples.  Certification systems and evaluation programs are also covered including latest worldwide trends.
