Rapid deployment of offshore wind power is critical for achieving energy transition in Japan. Japan is estimated to have an energy potential for offshore wind that could meet nine times Japan’s current electricity demand. In order to unleash Japan’s untapped potential, what is needed now is to urgently examine how the sea areas can be utilized, including the use of Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which have not been discussed to date, and the development of human resources to shape the industry. This symposium will address such topics and will explore the medium-to long-term strategies as well as specific policies that are required now to support the growth of the industry.
The event will be held both onsite and virtually. We look forward to your participation.
