  • Mark Porter
    Director, Supply Chain & International Collaboration, Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance
    Mark Porter moved to Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA) from Rocky Mountain Institute’s Business Renewables Center (BRC) initiative in March 2019. He continues to support the BRC initiative across all areas and grow REBA’s membership. Specifically he is developing initiatives to support supply chain engagement and international collaboration between NGOs acting in this space worldwide.
    Mark also supports Rocky Mountain Institute’s BRC China program, where Mark and the China team work to accelerate renewable energy transactions for companies and their supply chain partners in China.
    In 2007 Mark connected personal passion with professional experience and specialized in the renewable energy sector. Mark worked for Ernst & Young’s transaction-focused renewable energy group for nine years. Working with projects across the technology spectrum in Europe, Canada and North America.
    Mark joined Rocky Mountain Institute’s Business Renewables Center program in March 2016, working to accelerate offsite non-utility procured renewable energy transactions. Mark has developed a growing number of resources to help buyers and sellers, including a transaction rationale diagnostic tool for buyers and a boot camp training series for project developers. He has planned and executed five, 400-person events where stakeholders from across the non-utility procurement sector gathered to collaborate and accelerate the market.
  • Merve Güngör
    Liaison Coordinator, Asia & North Africa, EKOenergy
    Merve Güngör is the Liaison Coordinator at the EKOenergy Secretariat. EKOenergy is an independent, nonprofit ecolabel for renewable energy that is available in more than 30 countries. Her focus is on promoting renewable energy and the use of EKOenergy labelled electricity, especially in East Asia. She closely observes developing renewable energy markets outside Europe.
    Before joining EKOenergy in 2016, Merve completed traineeships at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Subregional Office (ESCAP-ENEA) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Merve has a master’s degree from Zhejiang University in China.
  • Jules Chuang
    Managing Director, Mt. Stonegate Green Asset Management
    Jules Chuang has been extensively involved in the energy and climate change markets from the
    origination to the implementation stages, particularly in the renewable energy sectors (wind, biogas, biomass, solar). He has been covering the East Asia region (mainly Taiwan, Korea, Japan as well as China) with an equal emphasis on voluntary market as well as compliance and regulatory policy.
    In response to the recent development of the climate market, Jules has started his own company and focus on emerging international green electricity and green asset market includingtaking a board of International REC.org.
    Jules is an environmental scientist and energy economist. Prior to establishing Mt. Stonegate and Nanjitan, Jules also had several years of experience in finance and investment in Asia and the United States. He is a Taiwanese national. Jules is married and has two sons and three daughters.
  • Leo Wirawan
    Senior Lead, Energy Strategy & Global Infrastructure, Google
    Leo Wirawan leads Asia-Pacific energy market strategy and infrastructure initiatives for the Global Infrastructure group at Google.  His work is focused on building a cost-effective, customer centric, energy strategy to support Google's portfolio of current and future data centers and related assets. This includes ensuring that the company can meet its commitment to source 100% renewable energy for its global operations, as well as working towards the company’s long-term goal sourcing carbon-free energy on a “24x7” basis.
    Prior to Google, he held various positions and responsibilities with the common thread of focus area in energy & (upstream) chemical development. His last position was the Head of Energy, Utilities, and Basic Chemicals Procurement for an integrated, multi-national chemical manufacturing company.
    He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the NUS Business School (Singapore), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (B. Eng (Honours)) from the RMIT University, Australia.
  • Cindy Quan
    Vice President, Global Head of Environmental, Social and Governance, Goldman Sachs
    Cindy Quan is presently a Vice President and Chief of Staff for the Corporate Services and Real Estate group at Goldman Sachs. Cindy is also the Global Head of Environmental, Social and Governance and oversees the firm’s global environmental and social sustainability strategies and public policy initiatives. She is responsible for the global green building portfolio, the firm’s energy and carbon reduction strategy and the local community engagement and vendor diversity program. She was responsible for the LEED Gold Certification of the Headquarters building at 200 West Street in Battery Park City, NY.
    Cindy is currently a Board Member of CoreNet NY and the Chair of the External Relations Committee. She is also on the advisory board of Smart Energy Decisions.
    Cindy received her Executive MBA at Columbia and London Business Schools in 2014. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Cindy graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Facilities Management and Policy Analysis from Cornell University.
  • Seikei Itoh
    Head of Communications, Unilever Japan 
    Joined Unilever as a management trainee in April 1988. He was seconded to Unilever HQ in the UK for 2 years, and in 1992 appointed to Brand Manager of the home and personal care category. He successfully launched DOVE into the Japanese face cleansing market. Appointed to Marketing Manager of the hair care category in 2000, the biggest market category in which Unilever Japan operates, and helped Unilever capture No.1 share in the market. He then led the launch of AXE as Regional Marketing Manager. He was appointed Communications Director in 2006 and leads corporate communications and sustainability initiatives as a business partner of the CEO. He received the Forbes Japan PR Grand Prix in 2016. Assumed the current position since 2012.
  • Takahiro Suzuki
    General Manager, Corporate Citizenship Department, Aeon
    Takahiro Suzuki joined JUSCO Co., Ltd. (Currently Aeon Co., Ltd.) in 2000 and accumulated substantial experience through working at the Corporate Secretarial, Business Alliance, and Start-up New Business within the Aeon Group HQ before having been assigned to work at the Ministry of the Environment (MOE).
    Since coming back from MOE, he is responsible for formulating and pursuing the mid-and-long term Environmental Strategies of the Aeon Group including “Aeon Decarbonization Vision 2050.”
  • Naho Murakami
    Chief Manager, Sustainability Department, Marui Group
    After joining Marui Group, Naho Murakami worked in the retail business for 8 years, the personnel affairs including recruitment and education for 4 years, and the card business as well as the core business and administrative divisions of Marui Group for 9 years. In April 2019 she was seconded to Grameen Japan, the Japanese version of the Grameen Bank, to work on Japan's poverty issues. She assumed her current position in October 2019 and promotes Marui Group’s Co-Creation Sustainability Management.
  • Tetsuo Ohkawa 
    CEO, Ohkawa Printing
    Tetsuo Ohkawa is the 6th generation CEO of Ohkawa Printing Co., Ltd. established in 1881. Since 2004 he works with his raison d'etre "'Social Printing Company' addressing social issues through its core business".
    In 2019 his company achieved a 100% renewable energy plant, implemented Japan's first zero carbon printing which eliminated scope 1 and 2 emissions, and was in charge of printing "The Climate Reality Project" by Al Gore, former vice president of the United States.
    Received the Minister of the Environment Award for Global Warming Prevention Activities in 2015, the Minister of the Environment Award of the 19th Green Purchasing Award in 2018, and "SDGs Partnership Award" of the 2nd Japan SDGs Award. 
  • Isshu Kikuma
    Japan Renewable Energy Analyst, BloombergNEF 
    Isshu Kikuma is Japan Energy Analyst for BloombergNEF. He supports the BNEF service for Japan’s renewable energy and grid integration. He also has experience in the solar and sustainability fields before joining BNEF. 
    He holds a Masters in Environmental Management from Duke, the U.S. and Bachelors in Economics and Geography from SUNY Geneseo, the U.S.
  • Naomi Okamoto  
    Deputy Director for Carbon Policy Planning, Tokyo Metropolitan Government
    Naomi Okamoto started her career in climate strategy at Tokyo’s Environmental Bureau in 2002. 
    She has been in charge of carbon policy planning and was one of the members who designed and implemented the Tokyo Cap-and-Trade Program: the world’s first city-based mandatory CO2 emission reduction program for large-sized existing buildings.  After being responsible for the operation of the Tokyo Cap-and-Trade program, she moved to her present position in 2018. Her recent major task is to create and promote Tokyo’s new renewable energy policy.
  • Kiyoshi Hikino
    Director, Electricity Infrastructure Division, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry
    Kiyoshi Hikino graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo in 1998, and joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (currently the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; METI). He graduated from The Fletcher School at Tufts University in 2004 (Master of Law and Diplomacy).
    For the last 10 years he focused on energy policy planning including electricity market reform and the revision of the feed-in tariff (FIT) system. Currently, he is responsible for resolving grid connection issues to allow for the introduction of more renewables and ensuring stability of the electricity infrastructure even in the case of natural disasters such as earthquakes or severe typhoons.
  • Kae Takase
    Senior Manager, CDP Worldwide-Japan
    Kae Takase received her Ph. D in environmental studies from graduate school of frontier science, University of Tokyo.  She was an economist at Institute of Energy Economics, Japan, and her specialty was econometric modeling of energy supply and demand, and renewable policy.  She has worked at Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth, Center for Low Carbon Society Strategy, Japan Science and Technology Agency, and University of Tokyo, and also a senior manager at the CDP Japan.  She has been successful in engaging Japanese companies to join Science-based Target (SBT) initiative, and in engaging government to consider better corporate renewable sourcing environment, as a technical partner of RE100.
  • Tetsu Inoue
    Senior Manager, EHS Group, Corporate Workplace Solutions, Sony Corporation
    Tetsu Inoue joined Sony Corporation in 2000. After engaging in intellectual property-related work as well as environmental management work, he was engaged in renewable energy procurement assignments in 2007. He studied abroad in 2008, and was transferred to Sweden in 2014 for the assignments of general affairs in the group company. He took current position in June 2017 and has been in charge of energy procurement including renewable energy and management of activities for the reduction of environmental impacts at offices and factories within Sony Group. He has also engaged in becoming a member of RE100, formulating milestones for achieving RE100, and implementing measures to introduce RE in his current role.
    He obtained a Masters Degree from the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Keio University and an MBA from HEC Paris.
  • Hideki Okawachi
    Director, Utilities Leader,  Procurement Strategic Sourcing - Indirect & Services, Global, Kao
    Joining Kao in 1987, Hideki Okawachi started his career as an instrument and control engineer for chemical plants in the production technology department. He was engaged in projects for overseas plant construction, energy saving, etc. Since 2014, he has been promoting the introduction of energy-saving equipment and renewable energy power generation facilities in the current division. Also, since 2018 he has been leading the procurement of renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Katsuhiro Koyama
    General Manager, Environment Department, Daiwa House Industry
    Katsuhiro Koyama was born in Shiga Prefecture in 1970. Graduated from the Department of Precision Engineering, Kyoto University in 1992 and joined Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. in the same year. While working at the company, he studied architecture at night course university, and became in charge of construction and designing of large building projects such as "Daiwa House Osaka Building" and "Nobuo Ishibashi Memorial Museum". For the administration building at Daiwa House Tohoku Factory, which was completed in 2005, Koyama collaborated with Mr. Gunter Pauli, an advocator of zero emissions, developed natural symbiosis type office that uses the principle of termite ventilation system. Taking this opportunity, he volunteered to transfer to the Environment Department in 2006 and has been taking charge of environmental management strategy planning and promoting measures against global warming for the Daiwa House Group. Koyama has been in position of General Manager since 2015. Qualified architect of the first-class and CASBEE evaluator. 
  • Teruyuki Ohno
    Executive Director, Renewable Energy Institute
    Joined Renewable Energy Institute in 2013. Teruyuki Ohno has actively participated in the policy formation of Japan’s climate change measures as a member of the subcommittee of the Long-term Low Carbon Vision led by the Ministry of the Environment Japan. Before joining the Institute, he served as the Director General of the Bureau of Environment, Tokyo Metropolitan Government for three years, covering a broad range of environmental issues including energy, climate change, waste management, pollution control, natural environment, and sustainable development. His notable achievements include reducing air pollution and PM emissions through “No Dirty Diesel Vehicle Strategy in Tokyo”, and implementing Japan’s first Cap-and-Trade Program in Tokyo in 2008, involving the industries and building a grand consensus. His active leadership in promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency has formed the foundation of Tokyo’s energy policy. He also serves as part-time lecturer at the University of Tokyo, a member of Seoul International Energy Advisory Council (SIEAC) and Adviser for ICLEI Japan and Board Member for WWF Japan. 
    He was awarded Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards by California Air Resources Board in 2014. His publications include "Energy Strategies of Municipality Governments" (Iwanami, 2013, Japanese) among others.
  • Masaya Ishida
    Senior Manager, Business Alliance
    Masaya Ishida joined Renewable Energy Institute in 2017 to lead research activities on renewable energy business. Prior to that, he was Executive Producer at ITmedia Inc., a Softbank Group company, where he launched “Smart Japan”, a leading online media in Japan focusing on renewable energy deployment and electric power market reformation. He has held several senior positions at media and internet business companies, including “EE Times Japan”, an electronics industry publication, where he served as CEO and was Editor-in-Chief of “Nikkei Computer”, a magazine focusing on enterprise IT solutions. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Information Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology.
    At Renewable Energy Institute, he has published "The Rise of Renewable Energy and Fall of Nuclear Power: Competition of Low Carbon Technologies" (2019), "Guidebook to Renewable Energy Procurement: for corporations and municipalities" (1st edition 2018, 2nd edition 2019), "Renewable Energy in the US Power Sector, the Other Revolution" (2018) , "The Ways Forward for Japan EPCOs in the New Energy Paradigm" (2017) and is a regular contributor to column articles and case-story articles that introduce renewable energy projects across Japan. In addition, he has been responsible to launch Renewable Energy Users Network (RE-Users), a network of corporate energy users that aim to accelerate renewable procurement in Japan.
