Renewable Energy Institute publishes “Renewable Electricity Procurement Guidebook” for corporate energy users in Japan since January 2018 and revises it with the latest information every year.
The 2024 edition explains the basics you need to understand when selecting renewable electricity, and then details the major procurement options. This guidebook provides an overview of corporate PPAs including the characteristics of on-site PPAs and off-site PPAs (physical and virtual) and the price trends compared to regular electricity tariffs. The information of renewable energy certificates is also updated focusing on Non-Fossil Certificates (NFCs). Key topics on renewable electricity procurement in Japan and overseas, such as the technical criteria stipulated by RE100, are presented from corporate energy buyers’ perspectives.
The English edition focuses on renewable electricity procurement methods available in Japan (Chapter 3 of the Japanese edition) providing a comprehensive and updated guide for global corporations operating business in Japan.
