Renewable Energy Institute together with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and Bloomberg L.P., jointly conducted a workshop on 8 March titled "Japan’s Strategy for Deployment of Offshore Wind."
The proclamation of Japan’s new offshore wind power law will stimulate the expansion of offshore wind power energy generation, which is expected to lead to the further development and utilization of the power transmission network and in turn to provide momentum for the expansion of onshore wind power generation, which is currently struggling.
The Workshop has invited Ben Backwell, Chief Executive Officer, Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), and David Kang, Bloomberg NEF, to introduce international trends in offshore wind power generation. Representatives from relevant national and local governments, legal specialists and operators of international businesses already engaged in offshore wind energy power generation, joined to discuss their expectations and the issues they can foresee for moving forward with the expansion of Japan’s introduction of offshore wind power generation.
