During the 2017 UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) which took place in Bonn Germany from 6 to 17 November, Renewable Energy Institute hosted an official side event entitled “Energy transition and low carbon developments in North East Asia—China, South Korea, Japan.” This side event took place on 7 November 2017 and was jointly organized with Tsinghua University, China and Climate Change Center, South Korea.
This side event brought together experts, scholar and key stakeholders to discuss and share the knowledge of the opportunities and challenges existing in low-carbon development and energy transit in China, South Korea and Japan. Topics covered included: 1. Current status on energy transition and low carbon development, 2. Opportunities and challenges, and 3. Domestic policies, efforts and activities.
The aim was to not only introduce the current state of energy transition in the Northeast Asia regions, but to also discuss issues and initiatives to further stimulate transformation and climate change countermeasures.
