    Professor, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
    Tomas Kåberger currently spends a quarter of his time in Japan as Chair of Executive Board of Renewable Energy Institute. Academically, he got an MSc in Engineering Physics, a PhD in Physical Resource Theory, and Docent in Environmental Science at Chalmers. He has been professor in International Sustainable Energy Systems at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University, and he is currently Professor of Industrial Energy Policy at Chalmers University of Technology and serves as Distinguished Visiting Expert of bio-energy technology at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou.
    Industrially, he has had leading roles in companies providing fuels and technology in the bio-energy industry, another company developing sustainable energy solutions for the automotive industry, and a company operating wind power plants. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Vattenfall, and the board of Industrifonden, an industrial investment foundation. Politically, he has served on board of Swedish and European Environmental Citizen’s organizations, several Swedish Government Commit tees developing energy and environmental legislation, and China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development as a member of a task force on Low-Carbon Industrialization Strategies. From 2008 until 2011 he was Director General of the National Swedish Energy Agency.

    Bo Normark has 38 years of industrial experience in ABB serving in many managerial roles with global responsibility. Focus was on power transmission equipment including advanced smart transmission grid technologies such as High Voltage DC (HVDC), Flexible AC Transmission (FACTS) and High Voltage Cables. He was serving in multiple countries such as Sweden, US and Switzerland.

    Haibin Wan has a bachelor in Automatic Control in the Northeastern University, China; and a Master in Automatic Control in the Northeastern University, China; and PhD in Bath University, United Kingdom. Currently, he is Deputy Director General of the Development Bureau of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO). He was Chief Technical Officer of REN-Redes Energéticas Nacionais, SGPS, S.A. From 2012 to 2014, he was appointed as member of the board of directors of REN. From 2009 to 2014, he was Deputy Director General of State Grid European Office. From 1997 to 2009, he was Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid International Development Limited, Project Manager of Network Operations of National Grid Company of the United Kingdom. From 1993 to 1997, he was a PhD candidate of Bath University. From 1992 to 1993, he worked for Eurotherm Automation Company in Hong Kong/UK. From 1990 to 1992, he was Lecturer in the Northeastern University.

    Hiroshi Okamoto obtained BS, MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Tokyo in 1988, 1990 and 1993, respectively. He has worked for TEPCO on management of bulk transmission technologies, renewable integration, smart grid and regulatory affairs of electricity market reform. Currently, he is in charge of the innovation and research strategy for growth of the company. Okamoto is member of Advisory Committee on Transmission and Distribution of International Electro-technical Commission (IEC/ACTAD) and former regular member of CIGRE SC C5, member of IEEE.

    JaeYoung YOON is a Project Manager of Power System Interconnection between both two Koreas and NEA Countries. He has been studying the feasibility study on Asian Super Grid in terms of technical and economic points since 2000. Nowadays, he is interested in the power system interconnection between Korea-Japan and Korea-China. He wishes to ignite the sincere and deep discussion for this topic in public level including corresponding governments and companies.

    Ronnie Belmans received his MSc degree in electrical engineering in 1979 and a PhD degree in 1984, both from KU Leuven, Belgium. In 1989 he added a Special Doctorate from the KULeuven and in 1993 a ‘Habilitierung’, from the RWTH, Aachen, Germany. Currently, Ronnie Belmans is full professor at KU Leuven, teaching techno-economical aspects of power systems, electrical energy and regulatory affairs, among others. His research interests include smart grids, security of energy supply and the techno-economic aspects of the liberalization of the electricity market. Within Belgium, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ronnie Belmans is vice president of the KU Leuven Energy Institute as well as cofounder and CEO of EnergyVille, a research collaboration in Genk specializing in energy in smart cities and buildings, in cooperation with VITO and imec. On a global scale he is executive director of the Global Smart Grids Federation (GSGF). Ronnie Belmans is also honorary chairman of the board of directors of ELIA, the Belgian transmission system operator.

    Rajendra Iyer has been working in the field of Power grids especially the High Voltage DC transmission field for the last 21 years in ABB. He has been involved in various interesting challenges during the years by living in various countries like Sweden, China, Japan, India and now Switzerland. In his early career, he has gathered valuable site experience as a commissioning engineer and project manager in various HVDC projects. Later he has been instrumental in forming JVs in China and Japan and held various Senior Management positions in the organization. Currently he is the Global Head of Business Development and Sales for the Power Grids Systems business within ABB and stays in Zurich, Switzerland.

    Ola Alterå is currently the CEO of Sustainable Innovation, a national centre for energy and resource efficiency in Sweden, and chairing a government committee on Circular Economy. He served as State Secretary (deputy minister) for Energy in the Swedish Government 2006-2010 and has held several other senior positions in the field of sustainable energy, both in government and the private sector, among them CEO of the Swedish Association of District Heating, political advisor in the Prime Minister's Office and representative of UNIDO, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, for Kenya. Last year he was a member of the Government's advisory group on Green Transition and Competitiveness. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics.

    Per Christer has more than 25 years’ experience within global energy community, spanning areas such as CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage); offshore wind; nuclear energy; energy trading and risk management and energy market design and operations. Per Christer has been living and working in the Nordics, Canada, USA, Japan and now in Singapore. Per Christer has held positions as country manager for OMX (now Nasdaq OMX) in Canada; senior advisor at Nordpool Consulting designing electricity wholesale markets in India, Turkey and Ireland; energy counsellor at the Norwegian Embassies in Tokyo and Singapore and principal advisor for the class and certification foundation DNV GL. He was also special advisor to the Japanese electricity market operator JEPX from 2013-2016.
    Per Christer holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

With more than 30 years of experience, she is a recognized international expert in the areas of energy, environmental and competition law, and a trusted expert partner of the European institutions. Her client base includes government authorities, non-profit organisations, academic institutions and private companies. She is also Director of the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF), thus constantly working with renewable energy associations on national and European level.

    Teruhisa Oi (Teru), who is a national of Japan, is a Senior Energy Specialist at Energy Division, East Asia Department of Asian Development Bank since 2004. He is responsible for leading projects in China and Mongolia such as district heating and cooling, energy efficiency, energy sector planning, and renewable energy.

    Hans-Arild has been involved in the electricity deregulation process since 1992. He has been involved as technical project manager developing the market systems at Nord Pool and Statnett as well as participating in the development of different participant systems in the Nordic market.
    In his work in the international arena, he has investigated international markets and had key roles in the development of strategies and detailed rules for Trading, Scheduling, and Settlement systems for regulators, power exchanges and system operators in California, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, India, Romania, Turkey, Southern Africa, UK, France, South-east Europe and Ireland among others. He has extensive international experience from various power market design and trading arrangements.
    He has been involved in developing new product offerings in a continuous evolving electricity market and was one of the resources in the project group that enabled the start of the NCE (Norwegian Centre of Expertise) in Smart Energy Markets in Halden, Norway. He is currently a partner in this network. He has also been employed as a short-term expert within Energy for the World Bank for energy market development in Central Asia and South-east Europe.
    Hans-Arild is now the CEO of Nord Pool Consulting, the consulting company of Nord Pool – the power exchange for the Nordic, Baltic and UK markets.

    Tore Irgens Kuhnle has 10 years’ experience from the energy sector, mainly oil & gas, and 5 years’ from finance. He has been active as consultant, analyst, investment manager, and director of boards. He was responsible for managing private equity investments in the wake of the financial crisis in 2008, and has had leading roles in large investment decisions, transactions, and financial restructuring, mainly in the energy and transportation sectors. He has also been responsible for the risk function of a number of hedge funds. Currently, he is responsible for the Enterprise Risk Management group in DNV GL Oil & Gas. He holds an M.Sc in Industrial Economics and Technology Management.

    Hiroshi Takahashi specializes in electricity system reform, public policy and local autonomy. He has actively been participating in the policy formation of Japan’s electricity system reform and renewable energy deployment as a Member of Advisory Committee for Natural Resources and Energy as well as Special Advisor to the Cabinet Office. He obtained doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo and master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and currently serves as Professor at Tsuru University. His former career includes Product Planner at Sony Corporation, Deputy Director at IT Policy Office of Cabinet Secretariat, Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo, and Research Fellow at Fujitsu Research Institute.
    He is the author of “Market Liberalization of Electric Utilities” published by Nihon Keizai Shinbun Shuppan-sha.

    Mika Ohbayashi is a founding member and Director at Renewable Energy Institute since August 2011. Before joining the Institute, she worked for International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi as Policy and Project Regional Manager for Asia Oceania. She served as Deputy Director at Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies for 8 years since its establishment in 2000. She also worked for UKFCO at the British Embassy to Japan, as Advisor for Climate Change Projects and Policies before joining IRENA, and started her carrier in the energy field by joining Citizens' Nuclear Information Center in 1992. She coordinates many scientific study projects, takes leadership to team up various networks including national parliamentarians and local authorities, domestically and internationally to improve sustainable energy society.

    Ryuichi Yokoyama received the degrees of B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1968, 1970, and 1974 respectively. After working in Mitsubishi Research Institute, from 1978 through 2007, he was a professor in the Faculty of Technology of Tokyo Metropolitan University. Since 2007, he had been a professor of the Graduate School of Environment and Energy Engineering in Waseda University. His fields of interests include planning, operation, control and optimization of large-scale environment and energy systems, and economic analysis and risk management of deregulated power markets. Now, he is a Professor Emeritus of Waseda University, a Life Fellow of IEEE, a Senior Life Member of IEE of Japan, a member of CIGRE. He is also Chairmen of Standardization Commissions of Electric Apparatus in METI Japan. He is a President of Consortium of Power System Technology of Japan and CEO of the Energy and Environment Technology Research Institute.
