    Professor Peter Bradford is a former member of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the former chair of the New York and Maine utility regulatory commissions. He has taught at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and is currently an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School, where he teaches Nuclear Power and Public Policy. A member of the China Sustainable Energy Policy Council, he served on a panel evaluating the reliability of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant, on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Panel advising how best to replace the remaining Chernobyl nuclear plants in Ukraine, a panel on the opening of the Mochovce nuclear power plant in Slovakia, and the Keystone Center collaborative on nuclear power and climate change. He is the author of "Fragile Structures: A Story of Oil Refineries, National Securities and the Coast of Maine" and many articles. He is a graduate of Yale University and the Yale Law School and is vice chair of the board of the Union of Concerned Scientists.

    Having obtained her Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of Konstanz in 1994, Dr. Stefanie Pfahl completed her doctorate in Social Science at the Humboldt University Berlin in 1998. Between 1999 and 2005 she worked on international environmental policy making, environmental product policies and resource efficiency issues at a number of research organizations, and then joined the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety as a Desk Officer in 2005. She served as Personal Secretary to Secretary of State for the Ministry, Jürgen Becker, from 2009 to 2013, and was appointed to her current position in March 2013.

    Mr. Hugo Lucas is the former Director of the Knowledge, Policy and Finance Centre (KPFC) at IRENA, where he led and coordinated all the activities with regard to knowledge, policy, and financial mechanisms, including the Global Renewable Energy Atlas, the Renewable Energy Knowledge Gateway, the Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP) as well as analysis of the macroeconomic impact of large scale renewable energy deployment.
    Before joining IRENA, he worked to establish the energy and renewables policy for the Spanish Government: the Spanish Energy Efficiency; the Renewable Energy Law; and the Spanish Renewable Energy Plan 2011 – 2020. He was also deeply involved in forming European renewable energy policies. From 2003 to 2008, he was responsible for the International Feed-In Tariff Cooperation (IFIC) project in the international department of IDAE responsible for European renewable energy promotion policy. In 2009, he participated as the Spanish delegate in the discussion on the European Renewable Energy Directive 2020. He also served as lead author for the chapter on renewable energy policy for the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation (SRREN).
    He graduated in agronomics engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid Spain (UPM), and completed postgraduate studies at the Federal Polytechnic University of Lausanne, Switzerland (EPFL). He then worked for two years in the Institute of Energy Systems of Switzerland developing the program for the introduction of liquid biofuels into the Swiss energy matrix.

Study on Financing Model of Distributed Photovoltaic Power Generation Projects, Study on China Solar Thermal Power Generation Development Roadmap, Annual Review and Outlook for China Solar PV Industry 2013, Analysis on the implementation of Renewable Energy Law – Problems and Suggestions, 2013, etc.

    Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes is the President of the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC), the umbrella organization of the European renewable energy sector. And he is the President of EREC’s member association, the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF), the voice of independent producers of energy from renewable sources, and he is a Board Member of the umbrella organization of the renewable energy sector in Germany, the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE). On behalf of the organizations he represents and as a renewable energy expert he is engaged in spreading knowledge about renewable energy and advocating stable and reliable policies and regulatory frameworks for scaling up renewables. Among others, he is a member of the Renewable Energy Industry Advisory Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and a member of the Steering Committee of the global Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21). In September 2013 he published his book “Renewable energy policies for Europe – Towards 100% Renewable Energy”.

    A lawyer by training, Klaus Rave is one of the leading wind power experts in Europe. He served as a head of department of energy with the state Government of Schleswig-Holstein from 1988 to 1995 and as managing director of the Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein from 1995-2011. He has been involved in financing wind power since the first project in 1991. Prof. Rave has been a member of German Wind Energy Federation (FGW) since 1988, representing the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) board since 1994, President of EWEA from 1999 until 2002, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Windkraft Nord AG (WKN), member of the Supervisory Board of the engineering company ESN, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg and chairman of the company, WindEnergie Zirkel Hanse. He was awarded the honorary title of Professor by Flensburg University of Applied Sciences in December 2013, where he will be involved in their Wind Master course for international students.

    Michael Rogol is CEO of PHOTON Consulting, LLC. He has more two decades of experience working with large energy players with McKinsey & Co, MIT’s Laboratory for Energy & Environment, Cambridge Energy Research Associates and Washington Policy & Analysis. He focuses on emerging trends in the energy sector and is a leading expert on solar power.Within the solar power sector, Mr. Rogol works closely with the CEOs and Boards of dozens of companies as a trusted advisor and consultant. In addition to detailed interactions with specific solar companies, he is the most widely followed analyst in the solar power sector. He is the lead author of dozens of detailed research reports on solar power based on a global review of more than one thousand solar power companies. In addition, his most recent book, Explosive Growth: Reshaping Energy and Infrastructure In The Next 1,000 Days is being made into a documentary film title The Next 1,000 Days for U.S. television network PBS. Outside the energy sector, Mr. Rogol has worked in politics and in entertainment, including serving as producer of 20 20 20 series of documentary films on Asian youth culture and host of a prime-time show on Korea’s top TV network, KBS. Academically, Mr. Rogol holds a master degree in Engineering Systems from MIT, an MBA from MIT and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and was a Henry Luce East Asian Scholar in Korea.

    Prof. Frede Hvelplund is a Professor in Energy Planning at the Department of Planning and Development, Aalborg University, Denmark. His background is Economics and Social Anthropology. He has written many books and articles on the transition to Renewable energy systems, amongst others several “Alternative Energy Plans” written in interdisciplinary groups together with engineers. He is a “concrete institutional economist” and understands the market as a social construction that for decades has been conditioned to support a fossil fuel and uranium based economy. Hence a transition to a “renewable energy” economy requires fundamental changes of an array of concrete institutional rules, laws and market conditions. In 2005 he obtained the Danish Dr. Techn. Degree, and in December 2008 he received the EUROSOLAR European Solar Prize.     Dr. Takahashi specializes in energy policy with focus on power market liberalization, grid unbundling, renewable energy and smart grid. He has been actively participating in policy formation as a member of Advisory Committee for Natural Resources and Energy as well as Special Advisor to the Cabinet Office He obtained doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo and master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. His former career includes a product planner at Sony Corporation, Deputy Director at IT Policy Office of Cabinet Secretariat, and Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo. He is the author of “Market Liberalization of Electric Utilities” published by Nihon Keizai Shinbun Shuppan-sha.

    In 1990 Dr. David Suzuki co-founded The David Suzuki Foundation to work with “government, business and individuals to conserve our environment by providing science-based education, advocacy and policy work for social change that today’s situation demands”. He is Companion to the Order of Canada and a recipient of UNESCO's Kalinga Prize for science, the United Nations Environment Program medal, the 2009 Right Livelihood Award, and Global 500. Most recently, he was awarded the Inamori Ethics Prize in Sep. 2012. Dr. Suzuki is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and holds 28 honorary degrees from universities around the world. He is familiar to television audiences as host of the multi-award winning long-running CBC science and natural history television series The Nature of Things. For 35 years, he and his wife, Dr. Tara Cullis, have worked extensively with Canada's First Nations people. He has been honoured with seven names and formal adoption by three tribes. His written work includes more than 54 books, 19 of them for children.

    Dr. Kiyoshi Kurokawa graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tokyo in 1962. From 1969 to 1984 he taught at various US universities, including the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the UCLA School of Medicine. He then joined the University of Tokyo and was appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine in 1989. In 1996, he was appointed Dean and Professor of Medicine of the Tokai University School of Medicine. His appointment as Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo came in 1997. From 2003 he served as President of the Science Council of Japan and oversaw its restructuring. He became a professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in 2006, and was appointed an academic fellow of the Institute in 2011. Appointed Chairman of the National Diet of Japan Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission in 2011, Dr. Kurokawa’s leadership of the investigation into the causes and background of the accident and his reporting, in both English and Japanese, of the Commission’s findings had a strong domestic and international impact, and was particularly well received overseas.
    Dr. Kurokawa has served in many advisory roles, including a past post as a Special Cabinet Advisor, and currently as Special Advisor to the Office of Healthcare Policy (since 2013). He is the recipient of many awards

    After graduating in Economics from the University of Tokyo in 1969, Professor Naohiko Jinno joined Nissan Motor Co. then went on to complete his Masters degree in Economics at the University of Tokyo in 1978, followed by his doctorate in 1981, specializing in public finance and local government finance. His academic career includes serving as assistant professor at Osaka City University, and professor in the graduate school of Tokyo University. Since 2009 he has been an emeritus professor at the University of Tokyo. He also currently serves on many committees and advisory councils, including as Chairman of the Local Public Finance Council, Acting Chairperson of the Tax Commission, Chairman of the Pension Subcommittee of the Social Security Council, and Chairman of the Advisory Council on Decentralization Reform.
    Among his recent publications are the works Wakachiai no Keizaigaku (“The Economics of Sharing”), Iwanami Shinsho, and Zeikin Jōshiki no Uso (“Inaccuracies)

    Masayoshi Son was born in 1957 in Tosu City of Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. A year after graduating from the Economics Department of UC Berkeley, Son founded and became the president and CEO of Japan Softbank, the predecessor of current Softbank Corp in 1981. Softbank Corp went public in 1994, and two years later in 1996, he launched Yahoo Japan Corporation as a joint venture with Yahoo! Inc. US, running the enterprise as the president and CEO, then as the chairman and CEO. In 2001, Son started to provide an ADSL service “Yahoo! BB” in partnership with Yahoo Japan Corporation, and made a high profile acquisition of Vodafone KK (predecessor of Softbank Mobile KK) in April of 2006.
    Currently he retains multiple positions including the president and CEO of Softbank Corp, the chairman and CEO of Softbank Mobile KK, Softbank BB KK, and Softbank Telecom KK. Son is also known as the owner of the Fukuoka Softbank HAWKS (a Japanese professional baseball team based in Kyushu.)
    After the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, he founded and assumed office of the chairman of the Japan Renewable Energy Foundation to promote the use of renewable energy resources.

    Currently he spends a quarter of his time in Japan as Executive Board Chairman of the Japan Renewable Energy Foundation. Academically, Tomas Kåberger got an MSc in Engineering Physics, a PhD in Physical Resource Theory, and Docent in Environmental Science at Chalmers. He has been professor in International Sustainable Energy Systems at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University, and he is currently Professor of Industrial Energy Policy at Chalmers University of Technology and serves as Distinguished Visiting Expert of bio-energy technology at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou.
    Industrially, he has had leading roles in companies providing fuels and technology in the bio-energy industry, another company developing sustainable energy solutions for the automotive industry, and a company operating wind power plants. He currently serves on the board if Industrifonden, an industrial investment foundation. Politically, he has served on board of Swedish and European Environmental Citizen’s organizations, several Swedish Government Commit tees developing energy and environmental legislation, and China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development as a member of a task force on Low-Carbon Industrialization Strategies. From 2008 until 2011 he was Director General of the National Swedish Energy Agency.

    Takejiro Sueyoshi was born on January 3, 1945 in Kagoshima, Japan.
    After graduating from Tokyo University, he joined the Mitsubishi Bank (the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ) in 1967 and worked for the bank until 1998.
    During his years with Nikko Asset Management as Deputy President, he was appointed as a member of the UNEP FI Steering Committee. In addition to the involvement in the UNEP FI activities in the Asia Pacific Region, he is giving many educational speeches about environmental problems and CSR/SRI in various government councils, seminars, universities and TV programs. He is a Trustee member of Carbon Disclosure Project. He was a member of the Council for Japan’s Prime Minister on Climate Change Policy.
    His publications includes “Ondanka Kogi (A lecture on Global Warming)” (Toyo Keizai), “Yugai Rensa (Chain of Harmfulness)” (Gentousha), “Green New Deal” (Editor,Kankyou Shinbun), “Saishin CSR Jijyo( The Newest Book on CSR)”(Hokuseido).

    Before joining JREF in August 2013, he served as the Director General of the Bureau of Environment, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, for three years, covering a broad range of environmental issues including energy, climate change, waste management, pollution control, natural environment, and sustainable development. His notable achievements include reducing air pollution and PM emissions through “No Dirty Diesel Vehicle Strategy in Tokyo”, and implementing Japan’s first Cap-and-Trade Program in Tokyo in 2008, involving the industries and building a grand consensus. His active leadership in promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency has formed the foundation of Tokyo’s energy policy. His latest publication is "Energy Strategies of Municipality Governments" (Iwanami, 2013, Japanese). He also serves as part-time lecturer at the University of Tokyo.

    Ms.Ohbayashi is a founding member and Director at Japan Renewable Energy Foundation since August 2011. Before joining the foundation, Ms. Ohbayashi worked for International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) as Policy and Project Regional Manager for Asia Oceania, which HQ is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from April 2010 to Aug 2011. She served as Deputy Director at Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies for 8 years since its establishment in 2000. She also worked for UKFCO at the British Embassy to Japan, as Advisor for Climate Change Projects and Policies before joining IRENA. She started her carrier in the energy field by joining Citizens' Nuclear Information Center in 1992, after some years work experience. She coordinates many scientific study projects, takes leadership to team up various networks including national parliamentarians and local authorities, domestically and internationally to improve sustainable energy society.

    Eric Martinot is an internationally recognized scholar, writer, and teacher on the subject of renewable energy. He is report author of the just-released REN21 Renewables Global Futures Report, and was lead author until 2010 of the REN21 Renewables Global Status Report. He currently serves as senior research director with the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies in Tokyo and adjunct professor with Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He also holds research affiliations with the Worldwatch Institute and the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association. He lived in Beijing for three years as senior visiting scholar at Tsinghua University, and was formerly senior energy specialist with the World Bank, renewable energy program manager with the Global Environment Facility, and adjunct professor of public policy at the University of Maryland. He has written 70 publications on renewable and sustainable energy since 1990, and holds a Ph.D. in Energy and Resources from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
