Eric Usher is Manager of Seed Capital Programmes within the United Nations Environment Programme, focused on engaging the finance sector in the shift to greener low carbon economies. During 2011 he worked for the UNFCCC climate change secretariat in the setting up of the Green Climate Fund and its Private Sector Facility. Mr. Usher is Lead Editor of the annual Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment report published with Bloomberg New Energy Finance and co-author of a number of studies examining the role of public and private finance in climate mitigation. He was Lead Author for finance for both the IPCC Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and the Global Energy Assessment.
Before joining UNEP, Mr. Usher was General Manager of Noor SA, a solar rural electrification company based in Morocco. He holds an MBA from INSEAD, France, and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada.
