The Fukushima nuclear disaster had a profound impact on the energy policies of not only in Japan, but also around the world, and accelerated the movement toward more sustainable energy policies.
Renewable Energy Institute was founded in August 2011 with the aim to establish a society based on renewables so that the catastrophe of a nuclear accident will never be repeated.
To mark this 10-year milestone, we have assembled expert contributions from a variety of perspectives on the changes to energy policy in Japan over these 10 years, the direction we should be aiming for, nuclear power, electricity system reform, renewables, and climate crisis policies.
We hope that these contributions will provide a fresh perspective on the origins of policies and afford us the opportunity to explore democratic and fair approach to energy and society.
