  • Ernesto Zedillo
    Former President of Mexico (1994-2000)
    As elected President of Mexico (1994-2000), Ernesto Zedillo successfully enacted bold reforms to address the major financial and economic crisis that faced his administration. At the same time, his government made strong commitments to social justice by increasing its spending on social programmes year after year. Since leaving office, Ernesto Zedillo has worked as the Director of the Center for the Study of Globalization at Yale University and as member of a number of international panels and commissions, to find solutions to some of the greatest challenges facing the global community. He has also worked on a number of initiatives focused on climate change mitigation and, in 2008, published an edited volume, Global Warming: Looking Beyond Kyoto.
  • Amory B. Lovins
    Chairman and Chief Scientist, Rocky Mountain Institute
    Physicist Amory B. Lovins has advised major firms and governments worldwide for 40+ years; written 31 books and over 630 papers; and received the Blue Planet, Volvo, Zayed, Onassis, Nissan, Shingo, and Mitchell Prizes, MacArthur and Ashoka Fellowships, 12 honorary doctorates, the Heinz, Lindbergh, Right Livelihood, National Design, and World Technology Awards, and Germany’s Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit. An honorary architect, Swedish engineering academician, and former Oxford don, he has taught at ten universities. In 2009, Time named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people, and Foreign Policy, one of the 100 top global thinkers.
  • Tasneem Essop
    Interim Executive Director, Climate Action Network International
    Tasneem Essop is newly appointed as the interim Executive Director of Climate Action Network International (CAN). She is currently also serving her second term as Commissioner in the National Planning Commission. She previously headed the climate work in WWF International and served as the Head of Delegation for the organisation at the UNFCCC up to the Paris COP. She became a Member of the Provincial Parliament in the Western Cape in 1994 and held the positions of Provincial Minister of Transport, Public Works and Property Management and Provincial Minister for the Environment, Planning and Economic Development. She was a trade unionist and a teacher before this.
  • Hiroshi Komiyama
    Chairman, Mitsubishi Research Institute / Co-Chair, T20
    Hiroshi Komiyama, a prominent academic, scientist and engineer and leading authority in global sustainability, became Chairman of Mitsubishi Research Institute in April 2009, after completing four-year presidency (the 28th President) at the University of Tokyo.
    He obtained a PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Tokyo. His major fields of research include environmental engineering, advanced materials science and knowledge sharing. In 2010 he founded the 'Platinum Society Network' to achieve a sustainable society that solves environmental, aging, educational and economic issues.
    He leads Japan and the world with his strong influence, extraordinary leadership and enthusiasm to achieve global sustainability. His major English books are “Vision 2050” (Springer, 2008), “Beyond the Limits to Growth” (Springer, 2013), and “New Vision 2050” (Springer, 2017).
  • Amar Bhattacharya
    Senior Fellow, Global Economy and Development Program, Brookings Institution / Co-Chair, T20
    Amar Bhattacharya is Senior Fellow at the Global Economy and Development Program at Brookings Institution. His focus areas are the global economy, development finance, global governance, and the links between climate and development including on the role of sustainable infrastructure. His latest major publication is a report on "Delivering on Sustainable Infrastructure for Better Development and Better Climate". He also co-leads the 'Sustainable Finance and Growth Initiative' of the New Climate Economy. From April 2007 until September 2014 he was Director of the Group of 24. Prior to that, Mr. Bhattacharya had a long-standing career in the World Bank. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Delhi and Brandeis University and his graduate education at Princeton University.
  • Frank Rijsberman
    Director-General, Global Green Growth Institute
    Frank Rijsberman leads the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in supporting governments transition towards a model of economic growth that is environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive. He has over 30 years’ experience addressing the challenges of environmental sustainability and poverty reduction with leading international organizations and philanthropic foundations.  In his role, he engages with senior international stakeholders to drive the green growth agenda and help mobilize finance for climate action and sustainable development. As an advocate for sustainable development, he is focused on supporting GGGI Member and partner governments to implement their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement and achieve their Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets. 
  • Catherine Howarth
    Chief Executive ShareAction / Board Member of the Scott Trust
    Catherine Howarth joined ShareAction as Chief Executive in 2008. ShareAction’s mission is to activate institutional investors to better protect our climate, ecosystems and communities. Through ranking major investors and influencing public policy, ShareAction has helped drive up standards of responsible investment globally. The organisation has mobilised shareholder power to press companies to use renewable energy, reduce capital expenditure on high carbon projects and put an end to coal financing by a range of major banks. Catherine serves on the U.K. Government’s Asset Management Taskforce and is a board member of the Scott Trust, owner of The Guardian. Recognised by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2014, she holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations, and a degree in Modern History from Oxford University.
  • MA Jun
    Chairman, China Green Finance Committee 
    MA Jun is Director of the Research Center for Green Finance Development at Tsinghua University. He is also Special Advisor to Governor of the PBOC, Member of the PBOC Monetary Policy Committee, Chairman of China Green Finance Committee, and Chair of the NGFS WS1, Co-chair of G20 GFSG. Before joining Tsinghua, he was Chief Economist at the PBOC from 2014-17. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years at Deutsche Bank, where he was Managing Director, Chief Economist for Greater China, and Head of China and Hong Kong Strategy. From 1992-00, he worked as public policy specialist, economist and senior economist at the IMF and World Bank. He received Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University in 1994.
  • Felix C. Matthes
    Research Coordinator for Energy & Climate Change, Oeko Institute
    Felix Matthes joined the Öko-Institut in 1991 and has been research coordinator for energy and climate policy since 2008.
    He is the author of numerous studies and publications on German, European and international energy, environmental and climate policy. Central topics of his work are medium and long-term decarbonization strategies, energy market design and energy system modelling, design and evaluation of policy mix ap-proaches in energy and climate policy, carbon pricing systems as well as various technology-specific issues. He was a member of several advisory bodies in Germany, the EU and abroad, e.g. of the German Coal Commission in 2018 and 2019.
    He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Leipzig University of Technology and a PhD in political sciences from the Free University of Berlin.
  • Michiyo Morisawa
    Director, Carbon Disclosure Project Japan / Japan Head, Principle for Responsible Investment (PRI)
    Michiyo Morisawa is Japan Director of CDP, guiding the initiative since CDP’s global expansion in 2006.
    Also, since Principle for Responsible Investment, PRI established the Japan network in 2010, she has expanded its ESG investment as Japan Head of Signatory Relation at PRI.
    She has been a member of several committees under the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry. She has experience in international business development of financial services that worked to alleviate the risk of settlement in Citibank and others.
    She holds a PhD in Environment from Tokyo University.
  • Athena Ronquillo-Ballesteros
    Climate Finance Director Asia, Growald Family Fund
    Athena Ronquillo-Ballesteros leads the development and implementation of the Asia Climate Finance strategy. Prior to joining the fund, Athena was Director of World Resource Institute’s Sustainable Finance program for 8 years. Athena has many years of leadership and management experience in environment, development and natural resource governance in developing countries with a particular focus on climate change, clean energy and sustainable finance. She worked actively on climate policy, sustainable finance and clean energy in China, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan. She is a long-time policy advisor to the Philippine government’s official climate change negotiating team at the UNFCCC.
  • Emmanuel Guérin
    Executive Director for International Affairs, European Climate Foundation / Director, International Climate Politics Hub
    Emmanuel Guérin brings a decade of experience in climate politics, policies and economics, working in
    government, think tank, philanthropy and academia. Before joining the ECF, he worked for the
    French Foreign Affairs Ministry, as Special Advisor to the Climate Change Ambassador and now ECF
    CEO Laurence Tubiana, and led the drafting team for the Paris Agreement. He also worked as a
    Consultant for the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), was Associate Director of the UN
    Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Director of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways
    Project, and Director of the Energy and Climate Programme at the Institute for Sustainable
    Development and International Relations.
  • Sven Teske
    Research Director, University of Technology Sydney
    Sven Teske is a Research Director at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology, Sydney. 
    In February 2019, he published the book “Achieving the Paris Climate Agreement Goals - Global and Regional 100% Renewable Energy Scenarios with Non-energy GHG Pathways for +1.5°C and +2°C” as a lead author at Springer. Furthermore, he published over 50 special reports about renewable energies like the “RE21 Global Futures Report (2017)”, 100% Renewable Energy for Tanzania" (2017) and the “Global Wind Energy Outlook (2016)”. Sven Teske was a lead author for the IPCC Special Report Renewables (Chapter 10: Scenario analysis), published in 2011. He was a member of the expert review committee for the IEA World Energy Outlook in 2010 and 2011 and is a member of the advisory panel of the Japanese Renewable Energy Foundation. Among his areas of expertise are decentralized energy and renewable energy system analysis, modelling, electrification concepts for least developed countries, and 100% renewable energy pathways for CVF countries. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Flensburg in Germany.
  • Henk Rogers
    Founder and Board Chair, Blue Planet Foundation
    Henk Rogers is one of the world’s leading advocates and activists for reducing and eventually eliminating humankind’s dependence on fossil fuel. He is the founder, visionary and chairman of the board at Blue Planet Foundation, whose tireless efforts helped pave the way for Hawaii to enact a policy that calls for electric utilities throughout the state to rely on 100% renewable energy by 2045.
    He is now focusing beyond Hawaii to help others enact mandates for 100% renewable energy in their regions. He has spoken at three Inter-Parliamentary Union assemblies, where he collaborated with the 178 member countries to draft an emergency climate change resolution.
    His newest initiative, Blue Planet Alliance, takes a “mandate first” approach to initiate global climate change action. The Alliance aims to create measurable and scalable results among individuals, organizations, cities, states, countries and eventually, the world.
  • Dolf Gielen
    Director, IRENA Innovation and Technology Center (IITC)
    Dolf Gielen is the director of the IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre (IITC) since January 2011. The IITC, located in Bonn, Germany, assists energy transition planning and innovation strategies. Before joining IRENA, he worked for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the International Energy Agency, Paris. He also worked for the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) in Tsukuba, Japan between 2000 to 2001. He has a PhD from the Technical University of Delftin the Netherlands.
  • Nobuo Tanaka
    Chairman, Sasakawa Peace Foundation / Former Executive Director, The International Energy Agency (IEA)
    Nobuo Tanaka is Chairman of The Sasakawa Peace Foundation. He had been a former Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) from 2007 to August 2011. He began his career in 1973 in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and has served in a number of high-ranking positions, including Director-General of the Multilateral Trade System Department. He was Minister for Industry, Trade and Energy at the Embassy of Japan, Washington DC. He has also served twice as Director for Science, Technology and Industry (DSTI) of the Paris-based international organization, OECD.
  • Anna Leidreiter
    Director Climate and Energy, World Future Council
    As Director Climate and Energy, Anna Leidreiter  develops and carries out advocacy campaigns for a global transition towards 100% renewable energies. Together with her team, she advices policy makers around the world on how to facilitate the transformation by leaving no one behind. Anna has initiated the Global 100% RE Platform and is a founding member of two energy cooperative in the North of Germany.
    Before joining the World Future Council, Anna gained practical experiences in the renewable energy industry as well as in academics and has lived in Ethiopia, Australia, the Netherlands and Brussels. She authored and co-authored various articles and publications on climate change and renewable energy subjects and speaks frequently on international conferences.
    Anna holds a Masters degree in International Development Studies focused on Environmental Governance from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
  • Fiona Reynolds
    CEO, Principles for Responsible Investors (PRI)
    Fiona Reynolds is the CEO of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The PRI is a U.N. supported organisation, with more than 2,200 signatories who collectively represent over US $82 trillion in Assets Under Management.  The PRI is the major global organisation for responsible investment practices and leadership and the integration of environmental, social and governance issues across the investment chain. Its' mission is to create a sustainable global financial system and the organisation aims to bring responsible investors together to work towards creating sustainable financial markets that contribute to a more prosperous world for all. Appointed in 2013, Fiona has 25 years' experience in the financial services and pension sector.
  • Tsuyoshi Yamamoto
    Special Advisor to the Governor on International Affairs, Tokyo Metropolitan Government

    Tsuyoshi Yamamoto joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 1985. After having served as First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in the United States and as Counselor at the Embassy of Japan in Brazil, in 2002 he was appointed Director at the International Science Cooperation Division of the Foreign Policy Bureau and Director at the Exchange Programs Division of Public Diplomacy and Cultural Exchanges Bureau. In 2006, he became Deputy Director at the Coordination and Communication Division, Headquarters for Abduction Issue in the Prime Minister’s Cabinet and in 2008 Director at the Policy Planning Division in the same Headquarters. From 2008 to 2017, he served as Minister at the Embassy of Japan in Argentina, Minister at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna and Consul-General of Japan in Rio de Janeiro. He assumed his current position in 2017. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Faculty of Law from Doshisha University, Kyoto and completed the international course at the Diplomatic School (Escuela Diplomática) in Madrid.
  • Catherine Brown
    CEO, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, Australia
    Catherine Brown joined the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation as CEO in 2011. The Foundation is Australia’s largest and oldest community foundation. Catherine is a lawyer with experience in the not for profit and philanthropic sectors as a strategic and governance advisor, lawyer and executive.  Catherine is the author of Great Foundations: a 360° guide to building resilient and effective not-for-profit organisations (ACER Press, 2010). She has completed her PhD thesis related to philanthropic foundations and innovation (Centre for Social Impact, Faculty of Business & Law, Swinburne University). Catherine has held Victorian Government Board appointments in health and women’s affairs. Catherine is committed to helping build resilient, sustainable and inclusive communities.
  • ZHANG Li
    Secretary General, Society for Entrepreneurs and Ecology (SEE) Foundation
    ZHANG Li, Ph.D. is a field biologist and research professor on Ecology at Beijing Normal University. He has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Society for Entrepreneurs and Ecology (SEE) Foundation, China’s leading environmental NGO since April 2016. He works on China’s environmental policy studies on collective forest tenure reform, eco-compensation, protected area legislation, wildlife protection law, community conservation agreement, wildlife trade and tracking control related policies. Prof. ZHANG is also on the judge panel of Ford Motor Environment and Conservation Grant and working on grantmaking to support China grass root environmental NGOs’ capacity building since 2002.
  • LEI Hongpeng
    Country Director, China and Director, Climate Change, Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF)
    LEI Hongpeng leads CIFF’s China strategy, portfolio and operations. He is Chief Representative of the CIFF China office and oversees China team and portfolio, which includes energy transition, carbon pricing, sustainable cities and urbanization, improving air quality, green finance, climate and environmental governance, and green Belt and Road Initiative, etc. 
    Hongpeng’s career spans government, think tank, NGOs and philanthropies. His roles prior to CIFF include directing the Energy Program of World Resources Institute China and leading WWF China’s climate and energy team. He also worked on building energy efficiency and green buildings for over 4 years at Chinese government. Hongpeng sits on the Board of Energy Foundation China.
  • Hideki Wakabayashi

    Currently works for Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC) as Director since 2017, and has been Board Member of Global Compact Network Japan from 2013.  Previously he served as Director of Amnesty International Japan from 2011 to 2017 after experiencing various professional positions including Visiting Fellow, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS, 2008), Member, House of Councilors (senator: Democratic Party of Japan, proportional district, 2001-2007), Director of International Affairs and Executive Committee Member of Japanese Electrical, Electronic & Information Union (1996-2001), First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Washington D. C. (1993-1996) dealing with Official Development Assistance and Japan & US Cooperation, and staff of Yamaha Corporation (Sales and Planning Division of music instruments and Labor Union (1980-1990).   • Renato Redentor Constantino
    V20 / Executive Director, Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities
    Red Constantino heads the international policy group Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities and is a member of the Expert Advisory Group of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and Vulnerable 20 Group of Finance Ministers (V20). He is a Board Member of the Philippine People’s Survival Fund, the country's first legislated climate finance mechanism. He was senior advisor to the Philippine presidency of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (2014-2016) and V20 (2015-2016). He published the literary anthology Agam: Narratives on Uncertainty and Climate Change, which won four national book awards (2015, 2016). He contributed to the anthology Humanity (Paloma Press, 2018) and is the author of The Poverty of Memory: Essays on History and Empire (CF, 2006).
  • Enrique Maurtua Konstantinidis
    Senior Advisor, Climate Change, Environment and Natural Resources Foundation (FARN) / C20
    Enrique Maurtua Konstantinidis is Senior Advisor on Climate Policy in FARN where he engages in the National, Regional, and International climate and energy debate, including UNFCCC and G20. Over the course of 15 years, he actively engaged in Climate Negotiations on behalf of various Civil Society Groups. Since 2018, he coordinates the Environment, Climate, and Energy Working group of the Civil 20 and coordinates the G20 activities in CAN International. In Latin America, Enrique coordinates the LatinoAdapta project for the Network on Climate Change and Decision Making, where he coordinates the work of Academic Institutions and Think Tanks to build bridges between Science and decision-making.
  • Klaus Milke
    Chair, F20
    Klaus Milke is the Chairman of the Steering Group of Foundations 20 with the background as Founder and Chairman of Stiftung Zukunftsfähigkeit (Foundation for Sustainability). Since 1991 he is also in the Board of Germanwatch, a German development and environmental Non-Governmental Organization.
    He has graduated economics, followed by studies of sociology and political science and - with experience in the executive board of a middle sized company - he is today consulting governments, corporates and civil society groups.
    By advice, moderation and advocacy work he is active in various networking and campaigning processes mainly on climate and energy and on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda “in, with and from” Germany with the SDGs.
  • Stefan Schurig
    Secretary General, F20
    Dipl. Ing. Stefan Schurig is the Secretary General of the Foundations Platform F20 (F20). He is an architect by training and has worked for some 20 years with governments and parliamentarians around the globe on sustainability subjects. Before he joined the F20 platform in 2017 he was at the Executive Board of the World Future Council Foundation (WFC) and appointed member of the steering committee of the World Urban Campaign of the United Nations. Stefan also teaches at the Master programme of Urban Planning at the Hamburg University (HCU). Stefan was also a member of the Senior Management Team of Greenpeace Germany until 2007.
  • Tomas Kåberger
    Chair of Executive Board, Renewable Energy Institute
    Tomas Kåberger has been the Chair of Executive Board of Renewable Energy Institute since its foundation in 2011. Academically, he got an MSc in Engineering Physics, a PhD in Physical Resource Theory, and Docent in Environmental Science at Chalmers. He has been professor in International Sustainable Energy Systems at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University, and he is currently affiliate Professor of Industrial Energy Policy at Chalmers University of Technology.
    Industrially, he has had leading roles in companies providing fuels and technology in the bio-energy industry, another company developing sustainable energy solutions for the automotive industry, and a company operating wind power plants. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Vattenfall, and as Industrial Growth Executive of the European company InnEnergy.
    Politically, he has served on board of Swedish and European Environmental Citizen’s organizations, several Swedish Government Committees developing energy and environmental legislation, and China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development as a member of a task force on Low-Carbon Industrialization Strategies. From 2008 until 2011 he was Director General of the National Swedish Energy Agency. He is also a member of the Swedish Climate Policy Council established in 2018.
  • Teruyuki Ohno
    Executive Director, Renewable Energy Institute
    Joined Renewable Energy Institute in 2013. Teruyuki Ohno has actively participated in the policy formation of Japan’s climate change measures as a member of the subcommittee of the Long-term Low Carbon Vision led by the Ministry of the Environment Japan. Before joining the Institute, he served as the Director General of the Bureau of Environment, Tokyo Metropolitan Government for three years, covering a broad range of environmental issues including energy, climate change, waste management, pollution control, natural environment, and sustainable development. His notable achievements include reducing air pollution and PM emissions through “No Dirty Diesel Vehicle Strategy in Tokyo”, and implementing Japan’s first Cap-and-Trade Program in Tokyo in 2008, involving the industries and building a grand consensus. His active leadership in promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency has formed the foundation of Tokyo’s energy policy. He also serves as part-time lecturer at the University of Tokyo, a member of Seoul International Energy Advisory Council (SIEAC) and Adviser for ICLEI Japan and Board Member for WWF Japan. 
    He was awarded Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards by California Air Resources Board in 2014. His publications include "Energy Strategies of Municipality Governments" (Iwanami, 2013, Japanese) among others.
  • Mika Ohbayashi
    Director, Renewable Energy Institute / Co-Chair, F20
    Mika Ohbayashi is a founding member and Director at Renewable Energy Institute since 2011. Before joining the Institute, Ohbayashi worked for International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi as Policy and Project Regional Manager for Asia Oceania. She served as Deputy Director at Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies for 8 years since its establishment in 2000. She also worked for UKFCO at the British Embassy to Japan, as Advisor for Climate Change Projects and Policies before joining IRENA, and started her carrier in the energy field by joining Citizens' Nuclear Information Center in 1992. She coordinates many scientific study projects, takes leadership to team up various networks including national parliamentarians and local authorities, domestically and internationally to improve sustainable energy society. She was awarded the Global Leadership Award in Advancing Solar Energy Policy by the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) in 2017.
