Japan Renewable Energy Foundation Symposium
German Energiewende
How Germany Leads The Global Renewable Energy Expansion
Two years have passed since the introduction of “the Japanese feed-in-tariff scheme.” The deployment of solar photovoltaics has much progressed, yet the expansion of other renewable energy sources such as wind power has not been started. Contrary, in Germany, where the phase-out of nuclear power was redetermined after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident, renewables covered over 30% of the country's total electricity generation in the first half of 2014 and a great transformation of the energy system is moving forward.
At the symposium, Dr. Klaus von Sengbusch, 50 Hertz Transmission GmbH, which network incorporates the world's largest proportion of wind power, will present the TSO’s experience of overcoming various challenges and finding solutions to achieve the energy transformation successfully. Other speakers include Japanese experts on current energy situations and issues in Japan and Germany.
We hope that this symposium will be another significant opportunity to discuss together the future of energy policies in Japan.
